Steve studied Production Engineering and Production Management at Nottingham University. After graduating, he spent several years working in manufacturing engineering within the aerospace and automotive sectors.

 

25 years ago, Steve moved into recruitment he specialised in Powertrain recruitment for many years, before launching the UK’s first EV and Hybrid recruitment division during the 2008 recession.

 

In 2017, Steve turned his focus to the battery sector, covering the full value chain — from electrochemistry and cell manufacture to module assembly, systems integration, and end-of-life recycling.

 

Recruitment for Gigafactories has brought a unique set of challenges, with Li-ion manufacturing processes new to the UK and specialist skills extremely difficult to source. This led to the formation of EVera — a recruitment model built specifically to meet these demands.

Steve has since led talent acquisition for some of the UK’s most complex and fast-growing battery businesses.
